Going after your goals and dreams is like navigating the ocean in a tiny rowboat searching for your destination. You’re out there rowing towards your goals in the open water. You’re paddling hard trying to never give up on your dreams. Some days are easier than others. You have someone to help you paddle towards your destination or you find that current that helps push you closer toward the finish line of your goal.
Some days you struggle while rowing against the current. Life makes you want to throw out your oar and just drift around in the ocean. Let life choose the direction you will go, after all, it’s so much easier than fighting for your dreams all the time. I’m here to tell you Mom, “Pick up your paddle and keep rowing!” You should never give up on your dreams and goals!
Here’s 5 Reasons to Never Give Up On Your Dreams
5. The little engine could, and so can you!
You know the children’s story. The little engine was not the likely candidate to help out his fellow train. He was smaller and had less power, but he had lots of determination! Little engine pushed through, and used the phrase, “I think I can!” It doesn’t matter how tough your situation might be. If you think you can, you will turn your dreams into reality!
4. You are an example to your children.
So you have a big goal. You tell everyone. Then you give up two weeks later. What are you teaching your children? If you can’t find enough motivation reach your goal, add an extra layer of determination by remembering that your children are watching to see how you nurture your dream. Lead by example. Show your children that they should dream big and stick to the goals they set for themselves.
3. Achieving your dreams leads to new, bigger (even more awesome) dreams!
Picture yourself at the finish line. Goal accomplished. You’re going to feel so incredible and confident that you set even bigger dreams. You do that because you KNOW without a doubt, you can reach those big scary goals because you have proof. You’ve done it before; you can do it again!
2. What will you remember when you’re sitting in your rocking chair?
When deciding whether or not to go after a goal or dream, life coach Tony Robbins has a method called “the rocking chair test.” Image yourself an old woman sitting on your porch in a rocking chair reflecting back on your life. How would you feel if you missed the opportunity to make your dream come true?
1. You deserve it!
Mom, you are so special. You work hard, and give all you have to everyone around you. Don’t forget to give to yourself too. Carve out the time you need to turn your dreams into reality. You deserve it!
